If your domain's DNS is managed through Wix, you can add DKIM records for your email services there. This guide shows you how to add DKIM records to Wix DNS for services like Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and email marketing platforms.
Wix is your DNS provider—it hosts your DNS records. Your DKIM keys come from your email service. Wix doesn't generate DKIM keys; it publishes the records so mail servers can find them.
Before You Start
You'll need:
- A Wix Premium plan (required for custom domains)
- Your domain connected to Wix
- The DKIM record details from your email service
Get your DKIM information from your email provider before starting.
Adding a DKIM TXT Record
Most email services use TXT records for DKIM.
Access Wix DNS settings
Log into your Wix account. Go to your Dashboard → Settings → Domains → select your domain → Manage DNS Records.
Or go directly to the Domains page and click Manage DNS.
Add a TXT record
Click + Add Record and select TXT.
Configure the TXT record
- Host Name: Enter the selector and
_domainkey. For example:- Google Workspace:
google._domainkey - Zoho:
zmail._domainkey
- Google Workspace:
- Value: Paste the full DKIM value from your email service (starts with
v=DKIM1) - TTL: Leave as default (1 hour)
Save the record
Click Save.
Adding a DKIM CNAME Record
Some services like Microsoft 365 and Mailchimp use CNAME records.
Add a CNAME record
In Wix DNS settings, click + Add Record and select CNAME.
Configure the CNAME record
- Host Name: Enter the selector and
_domainkey. For example:- Microsoft 365:
selector1._domainkey - Mailchimp:
k1._domainkey
- Microsoft 365:
- Points to: Enter the target your email service provided
- TTL: Leave as default
Save the record
Click Save.
Verify Your Setup
After adding records, verify they're publicly accessible.
Wix DNS changes typically propagate within 30-60 minutes, sometimes up to 48 hours.
Common Email Services
Google Workspace
- Type: TXT
- Host Name:
google._domainkey - Value: From Google Admin Console (starts with
v=DKIM1; k=rsa; p=...)
Microsoft 365
Add two CNAME records:
Record 1:
- Type: CNAME
- Host Name:
selector1._domainkey - Points to:
selector1-yourdomain-com._domainkey.yourtenant.onmicrosoft.com
Record 2:
- Type: CNAME
- Host Name:
selector2._domainkey - Points to:
selector2-yourdomain-com._domainkey.yourtenant.onmicrosoft.com
Mailchimp
- Type: CNAME
- Host Name:
k1._domainkey - Points to:
dkim.mcsv.net
Zoho Mail
- Type: TXT
- Host Name:
zmail._domainkey - Value: From Zoho Mail Admin Console
Common Issues and Solutions
"Record not found" error
Cause: DNS hasn't propagated or the record is misconfigured.
Solutions:
- Wait 30-60 minutes and check again
- Verify the Host Name field is correct (don't include your full domain—Wix adds it)
- Check for typos in
_domainkey
2048-bit key issues
Wix supports long TXT records, but if you encounter issues:
- Verify the entire key was copied without truncation
- Try without any line breaks in the value
- As a last resort, try a 1024-bit key from your email provider
CNAME record won't save
Cause: Possible conflict with existing records or format issue.
Solutions:
- Check for duplicate records
- Ensure the target doesn't have a trailing period
- Verify no spaces in the record values
When adding the Host Name field in Wix, don't include your full domain. Enter google._domainkey not google._domainkey.example.com. Wix adds the domain automatically.
Wix Inbox and Email
Wix Inbox (the built-in messaging system) and Wix email campaigns use Wix's own infrastructure. For emails sent through Wix:
- Wix handles email authentication automatically
- No additional DKIM setup is needed for Wix's native email features
For external email services (Google Workspace, business email, marketing platforms), you need to add DKIM records manually.
Wix Ascend Email Campaigns
If you use Wix Ascend for email marketing:
- Wix manages DKIM signing for Ascend emails
- Your domain should be verified within Ascend settings
- Check Ascend's email settings to confirm domain authentication
Complete Your Email Authentication
After adding DKIM, configure SPF and DMARC:
SPF: Add a TXT record at your root domain (@) with your email providers. Check at spfrecordcheck.com.
DMARC: Add a TXT record at _dmarc with your policy. Check at dmarcrecordchecker.com.
